Heat pumps for Homes with Baseboard heating
Are you tired of dealing with high energy bills and uneven heating in your home with a baseboard heating system? A heat pump may be the solution you're looking for!
Heat pumps are highly efficient heating and cooling systems that can save you up to 50% on your energy bills while providing consistent, comfortable temperatures throughout your home.
You don't have to add ducting to get a heat pump! Ductless heat pumps are often called a "mini-split" heat pump.
Mini-Split Heat Pumps
Just like a ducted air-source heat pump, mini-splits have two main components- an outdoor compressor and an indoor air-handling unit. However, they don't use a forced air duct system, making them an easier install if you are coming from a baseboard or radiant floor heating. Mini-splits can even work in conjunction with maintained baseboard heating to add cooling and offset gas heat.
Advantages:
- Greater efficiency without energy losses associated with ductwork
- More interior design flexibility
- For a home without ducts, reduces costs and hassle of installing a duct system
Disadvantages:
- Some do not like the appearance of having an indoor visible unit
- Can be costly, although incentives and rebates bring costs down signifcantly
